The study reviewed related literatures under conceptual, theoretical and empirical studies. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population comprised 3,424 teachers from 124 public secondary schools in Anambra State. A sample of 685 teachers was drawn using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using a 30-item questionnaire developed by the researcher and titled “Teachers’ Perception of Counsellors’ Task Performance Questionnaire” (TPCTPQ). The instrument was subjected to face and content validation. Internal consistency reliability index of 0.82 was obtained using Cronbach’s alpha method. The data was collected by the researcher with the help of three research asistnts who were properly briefed ad trained on how to administer the instrument. Data analysis was done using mean and standard deviation for the research questions, while z-test was used to test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. The findings revealed that experienced and inexperienced male and female teachers in urban and rural areas perceived Guidance Counsellors to be highly functional in their task performance. The study also found out that experienced and inexperienced male and female teachers in urban and rural areas did not differ significantly in their perception of guidance counsellors’ tasks performance. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that tteachers should continue to support and offer assistance to guidance counsellors in the execution of their tasks.
