INFLUENCE OF PARENTAL PERSONALITY ON OFFSPRING PERSONALITY TRAITS.
ABSTRACT
This study investigated the influence of parental personality trait on offspring personality trait in metropolis. Three hundred participants including 168 males and 132 females were recruited. The males were paired as father-son (84 fathers – 84 sons) the females were paired as mother-daughter (66 mothers – 66 daughters). They were between the age 18 – 85 years with mean age 51.29 and SD age of 10.72 (for mother), 22.64 and SD 4.39 (for daughter), 56.0 and SD 9.10 (for Father) 22.62 and SD 4.54 (For son).
The Zukerman – Kuhlman – Aluja personality questionnaire (ZKA – PQ) (2010) was used to assess the personality trait. Pearson’s product moment correlation was used for the data analysis. The findings showed significant relationship between parental trait and offspring traits and offspring traits. The discussions of the study were made and recommendations for further studies were equally done.
